Christie and Bloor "a series of boxes"

Christopher Hume, The Toronto Star's architecture columnist, recently had some intriguing things to say about Bloor Street and, in particular, Bloor and Christie.
"For all the appeal of the neighbourhood, it has suffered a certain amount of damage over the decades inflicted by indifferent architects and their city-blind clients. The corner of Bloor and Christie, for instance, presents a series of boxes, each duller and plainer than the next."

Green Beanery @ Bathurst + Bloor

Finally got the intel about the new coffee shop opening at Bathurst and Bloor, The Green Beanery. It's a bit different from other coffee houses because it is a non-profit business run by the charitable organization Energy Probe, which is housed in the Annex and headed up by an Annex resident.

The store will be staffed by volunteers concerned about the environment and will highlight coffees from around the world. We can look forward to sipping our first of many cups of "green" coffee in late February. Check out the website if you are interested in volunteering in the store.

Bathurst and Bloor

Just strolled past mucky Bathurst & Bloor to find ALL the posters removed from the building on the southeast corner. Finally! How many years has it been since Canada Trust moved out? Of course, it was good for a chuckle to walk past and see the tiny little Please Don't Poster sign posted amid a 2-square-foot patch of window that had been scraped clean. But I digress...
Took a quick peek inside and it looks beautiful, but not sure what it is.
Does anybody know?
