Are You Knutty About Knitting?

This is a message from Mary:
Who: Knitters and crocheters of Palmerston School! The Palmerston Squares have knitted blankets for raffle at Mayfest for the past three years and are looking for a change. Making a variety of items for charity seemed like a good idea! Watch the blog, http://palmerstonsquares.blogspot.com/ for updates. To get involved, contact Mary de Bruyn at marydeb40ATyahooDOTcom.

What: We are knitting or crocheting items like baby blankets (stroller-sized is good, cotton, wool or blends, or acrylic as long as it is non-flammable); hats for babies and children; warm vests for school-age children (use our sizes 4-10 or so); cotton face cloths; and little bags for women to keep feminine hygiene and birth control items in (about 4x6 inches).

Where: The items are going to Cotlands Orphanage (http://www.cotlands.co.za/) and other Stephen Lewis Foundation Supported Projects in South Africa and Zimbabwe. Some will also go to a physician in Harare (a cousin of Beryl Tsang, a Palmerston parent) to distribute to families who use her clinic.

When: There will be a delivery soon (contact us now if you have items to donate right away) and one in the spring, just after Mayfest, which gives us lots of time to accumulate items.

Why: To do something nice for others! And to meet as a crafting community here, getting together for tea and talk, while helping in our way.
