Dogs Off Leash

It just occured to me that some residents may not know that off-leash dog policies changed with the new year.
For instance, Jean Sibelius Square is now an on-leash park. The city's new People, Dogs and Park policy lays down very clear and stringent rules for dog owners and dog walkers. Residents now have to apply to have a park/greenspace declared off-leash.

Happy news for the canine (soon to canines, plural) resident in my house and other area dog owners: according to the list of off-leash parks in Toronto, we don't have to go far to find a place to let Fido run free. Within and ringing our area, they include Bickford Park, south of Christie and north of Harbord, Cedarvale Ravine on Bathurst at Lonsdale, Hillcrest Park at Christie and Davenport, Ramsden Park at Avenue and Dupont and Vermont Square at Palmerston and Olive avenues.

Compare that to environs north, where there's ONE off-leash area, or Etobicoke & York, where there's three.

Worst off, though, is Scarborough, where there's none.

No doubt those other areas will include more off-leash areas after residents go through the city's new process to put them in place.

Cheers,
Vanessa
