Lately, I have had more than a few people asking about the ice rink at Jean Sibelius Square. Fred, who is charge of the rink, was waiting on the Parks and Rec. Dept. to deliver the snow perimeter that is necessary to keep the water from flowing into the street. The City did deliver the snow, but now we are waiting for the plows to push it off to the side.
Next winter, if all goes as planned, the redesign of Sibelius Square will include better drainage on the western field, making this inconvenient process of bringing in snow unnecessary.
If you are interested in helping with the flooding of the rink once the perimeter is in place and if the weather cooperates, please let us know.
