Parkette Named For Honest Ed?

Whether you think it's a tacky monstrosity, or one of the best discount shopping stores in Toronto, there's no denying that Honest Ed's on the corner of Bloor and Bathurst is a Toronto landmark.
"Honest" Ed Mirvish opened it 60 years ago and there's also no doubt that both he and his family have had a large impact on Toronto, including the arts and theatre community.
There's a movement afoot to have a local parkette named after him. The article says the parkette is at Bloor and Bathurst near the subway, so it must be the tiny green space wedged between a laneway just north of Bloor and the last of the houses at the south end of Albany. It does, indeed, have a spectacular view of the Bathurst subway station. Seems fitting, in a way...
Anyway, if you want to lobby on either side of the issue, contact our councillor, Adam Vaughan.
Cheers,
Vanessa
