Two Summer Camps

The Gardiner Museum is JUST outside of our area and offers some great full and half day camps for kids and teens.

I BLOGged about them in April, but I received an email saying that there's still room left, which is unusual, as most parents know, by this time of the year.

There's a clay camp for children seven to 14; a teen wheel throwing camp for children 13 to 18; and also evening classes for adults.

Also got a flyer at my door the other day about Super Kids Summer Camp at Patenaude School of Martial Arts at 458 Dupont Street, near Bathurst. I never knew it was there!
The price for a week of camp is listed as $75. Wow! The phone number is 416.588.0545.

Summer Camps In The 'Hood

St. Alban's Boys' & Girls' Club on Palmerston near Vermont is a "home away from home" for many Seaton Villagers and the club, the neighbouring Bill Bolton hockey arena and Vermont Square park form a definite hub in our 'hood.

If you live here long enough, chances are that you'll be spending time at one of these places and if you have kids, they may become like second homes.

In addition to its popular after-school care program, St. Alban's offers summer camps. Themes include sports, drama, photography, aquatics, dance, music and "digicamp." (For full details, go to the website and follow the trail that starts with "programs.")
It's aimed at 6 to 12-year olds and runs from 9 am to 5 pm with extended hours available. The fees are very reasonable, too, starting at $100 a week, depending on the camp.

But you'd better book now... space fills up quickly.

Seaton Village Summer Camp

It's odd that parents have to think about summer camps now, when the snow is thigh high and their children can't even glimpse the end of the school year. But, as the saying goes, if you snooze, you lose. Particularly with more popular camps.

We have a rather attractive option for summer camp right in Seaton Village.

Palmerston Community Daycare, which is housed in Palmerston Jr. Public School, operates as a camp for six to 12-year-olds during the summer months. Each week has its own theme and the daycare staff members are miracle workers when it comes to thinking up creative ways to keep the campers engaged and happy -- not to mention cool.

It's affordable at $195 a week, too, considering that it runs from 7:45 am to 6 pm with no "extended hours" cost. There's a .pdf brochure and sign up info available online, including a detailed listing of each week's theme.
