Update Jean Sibelius Square
As many of you know, Jean Sibelius Square, north of Wells between Brunswick and Kendal, is undergoing a makeover in the upcoming year. As part of the design process, there will be a community meeting in October. This will give the community a second chance to weigh in on the design which has evolved from three concept designs that were presented at a previous community meeting in June. Once a final date has been set for the community meeting, I will post it here. It is important to attend this community meeting if you want to voice your preferences in terms of park design. The goal is to break ground in Spring 2009.

I recently moved into the neighbourhood, and I am curious about the history of the naming of this square. When was it first called "Jean Sibelius Square", and why? I nurse a secret wish that the great composer may have visited, but somehow I doubt that is true. Does anyone know?
