What's it about? This rolled into my inbox from a friend who is a self-professed "huge fan" of the festival:
"Every year the Banff Mountain Culture Centre tours a subset of their Film Festival entries around the world.
For those of you that haven't been before, the premise of the Banff Film Festival (and related book and photography festivals) is to celebrate anything that is related to mountain culture. So while there will be some gnarly Warren Miller-esque snowboard vids, there also will be much, much more.
Here is a clip from a seven minute animated short about a badger that just wants to be left alone in his burrow to sleep, along with a trailer for the Festival itself that's on YouTube.

Two years ago the Festival winner was shown and it was an extremely moving documentary about the smuggling of children from Tibet to Pakistan so they could get an education. The only route between Tibet and Pakistan was via a 22,000 foot mountain pass and the children were about 5 to 9 years old."
Cheers,
Vanessa
