We gave up our leased van yesterday. The days of toting strollers are over, DH bikes to work when the weather permits, I work from home and don't even have a driver's license, we bike or walk with the kids to most of their activities and the gas guzzler sits in our parking spot untouched, sometimes, for weeks at a time.

(Amusing story: when DH told the dealership salesman that we were giving up the van and why, thereby countering all the salesman's arguments before he could even make them, he told DH "You Annex types are all the same! I bet you wear socks and sandals in the summer, don't you?")

We're not denying that we'll need wheels once in awhile. Which is why when a friend mentioned that she'd joined AutoShare, I was happy to learn that there are six locations in our area where you can pick up a car.

Of course, I was curious about how it works and thought that you might be, too, since our BLOG readers could be in a similar boat, given our central location. I'll be sure to update you later, as well, after we've been members for awhile.
