I am not sure if NOON on the west side of Bathurst south of Dupont is still considered “new”, but it is worth a mention as a very good, not too expensive, casual-dining location in the Annex. What I find remarkable about this restaurant is that while I have heard complaints about the long lines (be sure to get there early on weekends), problems with alcohol service on the patio and long waits for food, I have never heard a single complaint about the food, only raves. It is a small restaurant that, though often crowded, is very child friendly.

Another brand new restaurant in the ‘hood is CLUCK, GRUNT and LOW at the northwest corner of Bloor and Walmer (Anyone remember the smokey 24-hour doughnut shop in this location from years back?). There has been a lot of talk about this restaurant and I was curious as to whether sushi-laden Bloor Street, could pull off an authentic southern-style ribs, pulled pork joint. I was very pleasantly surprised and have already made plans to return with friends and kids next weekend. While most southern bbq can weigh heavy in your gut for hours, I found the meal light, with great flavours and reasonable portions. Watch for very small sides, including the salads. I’d like to see the salads 2x as big. Friends have said they prefer the lunches over the dinners.http://www.cluck.ca/
