Perfect Pie?

The latest Village Post arrived on my doorstep recently containing an article awarding first place Toronto pie honours to Frangipane's giant berry tart.

A tiny-ish but elegant space at 215 Madison on the corner of Dupont, Frangipane also has been named Toronto's best patisserie by NOW magazine.

The cost of quality can be high -- the pie is $30, for instance -- but this is a good place to keep in mind when ordering a custom wedding cake, for instance.

Also, if you occasionally desire a break from a low-cal, low-fat, tasteless diet, a real pastry is much more satisfying than, say, a slice of cake made with lard icing from an in-store deli.
Don't believe me about the lard icing? What DID you think was in that hot pink trim, anyway? :) Look it up!

Cheers,
Vanessa

Hey There Vanessa & Ginny,

My name is Kim Montgomery and I really enjoy your blog! I lived at Spadina and Bloor for 4 years before moving to Broadview and Danforth. And although I am surrounded by awesome restos and ethnic shops at my new digs, it really doesn't compare to the energy that the Annex has. I miss going for walks along bloor and just people watching. From grabbing a late night falafel, mowing down too much sushi, catching a show at Lee's, or picking up an Elvis bust from "Ed's" it's such an awesome neighbourhood.

Thanks so much for taking the time to write this blog and share all the area news... I'm definitely bookmarking your site!

On different topic, another reason why I'm writing is, I work for Matchstick Marketing, a hip market-research/ promotions company that spreads "word-of-mouth" marketing for our various clients. The campaign I'm currently working on is looking for Toronto women who write popular blogs that discuss topics like savvy current events, fashion or entertainment news with the hopes that they'd be willing to participate in a short study about feminine beauty & hygiene products.

The survey wouldn't take too much of your time. I'd love to get the chance to connect with you and get your valuable feedback!

Please feel free to email me at kim@matchstick.ca and you can let me know if you're interested in participating in the study and how best to get in contact with you!

Thanks in advance,
Kim
