Doors Open In The Annex

I love Doors Open! The annual event when buildings' doors are thrown open to the public gets people walking, mingling, learning about Toronto history and appreciating architecture. What's not to love?

This weekend's annual edition focuses on multicultural places of worship and Toronto's National Historic Sites. (Fair warning: some are not accessible on Sunday.)

In all, 150 buildings will welcome the public, but the two in our 'hood are:

* The Native Canadian Centre of Toronto, just north of Spadina and Bloor

* Friends House (Quaker Meeting House) on Lowther

However, there's lots of intriguing open sites within easy walking distance, including the subway "ghost" station beneath the Bay Street subway; the stables and Hunting Lodge at Castle Loma (pictured); and Coach House Press at 401 Huron Street.

Enjoy!
Vanessa
