May, of course, marks CONTACT Toronto, a photography festival featuring exhibitions throughout the city.
The party line is: "CONTACT 2008 examines how photography shapes our understanding of the world around us and the enduring role it plays in the preservation of individual and collective memories. A wide range of images – from the epic to the everyday – look beyond the headlines to explore private and social histories."
There are eight CONTACT Toronto exhibits in our area:
Iconic Beauty at R.U. By Rosemarie Umetsu, 96 Avenue Road, May 6 to 31
Patrick Cummins at Ezra's Pound, 238 Dupont Street, May 3 to 31
Somme Nous? at Alliance Francaise, 24 Spadina Road, to May 31
Ian Bethune at Japan Sushi, 482 Bloor Street West, to May 31

Sound Check at Trane Studio, 964 Bathurst Street, to May 31

Hope you get a chance to take some of them in!
Cheers,
Vanessa
