Also, it occurs to me that, because of its tucked-away location, some area residents may not know about Karma Food Co-op. Accessible from a laneway on Barton, just east of Palmerston Avenue (or from Palmerston Avenue), Karma has been around for a long, long time (since 1972, to be exact.)
It is just what its name suggests: "a non-profit, member-owned and operated co-operative food store that emphasizes organic and local foods and environmentally friendly household products."
You have to be a member to shop at Karma, but you can do a trial shop to discover whether it's right for you.
