Sadly, there will be no ice skating rink at Jean Sibelius Square this winter. The plumbing issue turned out to be much more involved than originally thought; it looks like some earth will need to be dug to make repairs.
Thank you to the persistent and dedicated group of volunteers, led by the "rinkmaster" Fred, who worked hard to get the rink going this winter. Big thanks also go out to Brian and his crew from the City's Parks and Rec. Department who've been extremely helpful again this year.
As many of you know, last year was the first time in several years that the rink was up and running and we had a smashing party to celebrate.
