This just in from an eagle-eyed neighbour:
"I thought it might be worth mentioning for those who are interested in wildlife that there is a Virginia Possom living in our neighborhood.
It is about the size of a large cat. It looks similar to a huge rat, because of the marsupial tail, only it's cuter. This morning I saw it running across my neighbors lawn on Olive Ave. I didn't know exactly what it was so I went over to have a look and sure enough it was a possum. They are not native to Olive Avenue, however I looked it up on wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Virginia_Opossum.

They are kind of cute but are actually quite dangerous. When frightened they "play possum" acting as though they are dead, but when provoked are vicious."
So consider this a heads up for the curious and a warning for those tempted to pet the new neighbourhood "kitty."
If anyone makes another sighting, or grabs a picture, please let us know! (This is a stock photo.)
Cheers,
Vanessa
